It is very much common to apply sunscreen on our faces before venturing out into the sun. But we usually forget to do anything with our hair before going outside in the sun!
Sunscreen is necessary for the face, but it is also necessary for the hair to be protected from the sun. Also, protecting hair from the sun can be inconvenient because you may need to change your hairstyle, wear a scarf around your head, or keep your hair tied back so that a small portion of it comes into contact with the sun’s UV radiation!
If you don’t want to do that, you’ll have to stay at home until the sun goes down. Otherwise, the heat of the sun will damage the hair, causing it to become harsh and break, and the hair’s regular appearance will be lost.
So, what’s the solution?
Let’s know how we can expose our hair to the sun without spoiling our regular hairstyles.
Sunscreen Types for Skin and Hair
Facial sunscreen is classified into two categories. One type shields the skin from the harmful effects of ultra-violet rays with a long wavelength (UVA). Another sort of sunscreen is effective against short-wavelength UV radiation (UVB). Consulting with a dermatologist is recommended before using a skin sunscreen.
On the other hand, SPF (Sun Protection Factor) should be applied on hair. It shields the hair from a wide range of damaging factors.
Who needs the Hair Sunscreen and When?
Hair loss can be a side effect of exposure to the sun’s ultra-violet rays. But Sunburned hair usually don’t cause an illness. However, for skin, it might cause anything ranging from sunburn to skin cancer. Hair, however, poses no such threat. So, you may not need to use hair sunscreen all the time.
Hair sunscreen comes in two varieties. A serum and a spray for the hair.
Those who dye their hair should use an extra layer of sunscreen on their hair. Any color is a type of artificial pigment. It gives our hair a new hue. Such pigments fade quickly in the intense sun. As a result, if you’ve dyed your hair, you need to use sunscreen.

You don’t need to wear sunscreen on your hair on a regular basis. However, if you go for a walk by the shore, you must use hair sunscreen. Because the beach sun is more intense than regular sun. It will harm your hair!
